TrueBlood:Getting Attention

I am a huge fan of TrueBlood and I always will be! Even though it does have its "wierd" moments. I didnt really have anything to write about for this blog post but I was looking around, and I have a TrueBlood poster on the back of my door(dont judge) that I got as a joke from a friend. And I realized that the Ad has absolutly nothing to do with the show. They are using a sexual image to advertise their show, and I didnt realize that until now. This show is about a male vampire falling inlove with a human. Call me crazy, but this photo doesn't look much like a man. So why use it? They want to attract people to watch this show, and I guess this image is the only way to do that. Its too bad that these are the kinds of image's that draw people in.

  1. I am also an avid True Blood fan! I think you are absolutely right with the the statement that this cover portrays nothing about the main plot to the books and/or show. However let's face it...Sex sells, and there is A-LOT of sex in that show.

  2. I also agree that is the only way for the media to sell. The media uses sex to gain attention from the public. It's also easier for the media to gain viewers with a female vampire rather a male vampire, who happens to be eating blood during the advertisement.

  4. The media is completely distorted and will do anything and everything to gain viewers. So i guess by having a women vampire being portrayed licking her lips with blood in her mouth is sexy? I dont see it but it does however grab your attention and make you want to watch the show. As well as having "thou shall not crave thy neighbor" has a very sexual conotation and hooks the audience because sex sells and is very popular in society.

  5. Sexuality is constantly being used in the media as one of the main attention getting sources. I think that it is not only degrading using sexuality (mainly a woman’s sexuality) as eye candy but also misleading to what they are advertising for.
