Plastic Surgery Isn't Always The Way To Go

Whoever watches The Hills knows that Heidi Montag has transformed into another person. I watched the first episode of the season and was very anxious to see what she looked like after undergoing 10 plastic surgeries. She looked awful. In the first episode she admitted to her mother that living in LA has made her think of nothing but looking like the "perfect 10".

In an interview she did with People magazine she said she needed to "feel comfortable as a woman, as a person". If getting a brow lift, fat injections, chin reductions, buttock augmentations and liposuction to different parts of your body makes you feel better as a woman, then I dont want to be one. What people think is beauty these days stuns me and makes other women feel as though they are not good enough in their own skin.

Now, she is saying that she regrets her decision to get so many plastic surgeries done, as she should. In Star magazine a source told them "She's in so much pain, she doesn't like anyone to touch her". If people would just stop and realize that what they are doing isn't always hurting them, it's hurting people around them. What Heidi made clear to women was that you need plastic surgery in oder to be beautiful. Being a women means looking good to pleasure men and everyone else around you. Hopefully kids didn't look up to her, because if they did then their going to be spending a lot of money on plastic surgery.

She Really Isn't Herself

Ever since I was younger I have always been a fan of Christina Aquilera and I always liked her music. I thought she was a great singer and perfomer. It was good to hear that she was married and just recently had children and was starting a good life for herself. But just a couple days ago she came out with a music video to her song Not Myself Tonight. And I must say that it is very--risky.

Watching this music video made me realize how provocative entertainers are now when it comes to their music. It seems like Christina needed to keep up with the industry and the direction that it is going. We all know that Lady GaGa has definitely made a name for herself and her music videos are also pretty interesting, and it looks as though Christina is following in her footsteps. Dont get me wrong, this is the music industry and they know what sells, but seeing a performer stoop to the level of basically having "sex" with her lingerie on is pretty low.

Christina Aguilera is a very powerful and wonderful person, from what i've seen, but to me this music video went against a lot of things that I know. I think she can be just as great as she was, without trying to compete with Lady GaGa.

This Is Fashion?

Maybe I'm a little out of the loop, but last I checked ads like this did not represent fashion. I thought that fashion represented unique clothing and new trends that were out in society-not doing drugs.
This ad is for Sisley fashion which shows two young girls that are very skinny and contributing to that is them doing drugs. These ads are posted everywhere around the world including magazines, TV commercials and billboards. Young kids see these everyday and it's opening their eyes to things that should not even be there to look at. The media and advertisors should know what a huge impact they have on kids lives and the things they aspire to be.
What is this telling kids? This is telling kids that being in the fashion industry and doing drugs is attractive. When in reality it's looked down upon, so why is it okay in the fashion world? Can photographers and advertisors not find better and more unique ideas that can represent what fashion use to be? If this is what ads are looking like now, who knows what they will be in 20 years.

Is This Really Going On?

I just recently heard in the news that women working at Wal-Mart are suing because of sex discrimination. Men are making more than they are and receive more promotions. It's hard to believe that this issue is still going on. What more must women do in order to recieve equal pay and fair promotions? What is even more shocking, is it's not just a small group of women reporting this problem-its millions. According to an article in Styleite, "The case initially covered all 1.6 million woman who have worked for the company since 1998..".

If only these types of issues were taken more seriously things might be different. This kind of issue shouldnt even be occuring and the fact that it is proves that not enough is being done to control it. I am happy to see that these women are standing up for themselves and their own rights. They are trying to make a difference and make sure that this doesnt happen to other women across the world. I believe that Wal-Mart deserves everything that they are about to get. "But we've got a feeling there's a giant payday in the pipeline and a few hundred thousand women who will never buy their jeans at Wal-Mart again."

Frest Meat: How Girls Get Treated

I watch Real World, and the Real World/Road Rule challenges every season. I find them addicting and I love the action and drama in the show. But something that never seems to leave this show is how the guys treat the girls.

The girls get treated like they are nothing more than something to sleep with. The guys find them useless and think they serve no purpose on the challenge. A certain challenger on the show is Kenny. He is the complete definition of a narcissistic "asshole". He makes certain statements that make women wonder, is this really what men think?
I love watching some of the girls stand up for themselves and actually hold a good name. But some of them allow the horrible treatment and do nothing about it. I wish some of the girls would understand that even though this is a game, they are women that can do just as well as the guys, if not better.

Where Do Kids Get These Ideas?

There was a recent article in The Capital that caught my eye about how a couple teenage boys gang raped a 7-year old girl. Other than thinking "how do kids get these ideas?" I was simply thinking just why they did it. But this is an issue that I believe needs to be deeply thought about and I dont think that it gets taken seriously. The 7-year olds step sister sold her to these young kids for money. Where on earth did this girl get that idea? I believe it comes from the media.

There are so many movies and television shows where we see situations like this, and it's easy access to the younger generation. I'm not saying that movies need to stop being made that show these kinds of things, but something needs to be done when it comes to kids, and someone has to be blamed for why this happened. Rape should to be taken just as seriously as anything else, and the media or parents need to make it harder for the children to get access to anything that portrays it.

Millionare Matchmaker: Change Yourself

Millionare Matchmaker, the show on Bravo TV, is directed towards millionares who just cant seem to find love in their life. Or atleast just can't find anyone who doesn't want their money. Pattie Stanger, the star of the show, finds particular individuals in the L.A area, who she thinks are compatable to the certain millionare that is in need. She has a high success rate and believes to be doing well. Patti, also doesn't seem to have a problem telling people to be different.

In order for people to be "happy" in a relationship, sometimes they just can't be themselves. In almost every episode of this show, she tell's the millionares every flaw that she notices in them, and tell's some of them that they just dont have the full package. It shocks me sometimes at the things that she says, such as "men like vulnerable", "your to successful for him to like you, he will be intimidated". Because someone is very successful, a man won't like them? This show that is suppose to help people find love and make them happy in the end, can hurt someone's confidence in the process.

The episodes I have seen, the millionare almost never ends up with Patti's choice. Maybe it just goes to show that you shouldn't change yourself for someone else? And a woman being successful, is not a bad thing! Who cares, sometimes you should intimidate the man.
